Hi guys I'm thinking about swapping the wheels out on the Panigale for a lighter set. I'd like to go for the Superleggera style wheels. Had a trawl on the net and found a couple of pics. Just thinking out loud really as I'm not a big fan of the standard Enkel wheels. I'm thinking putting the wheels up for sale for around £700. So what do you guys think? Opinions are greatly appreciated
Buy your new wheels, ones above look good but keep your old ones......you know you are going to need a set for wets shortly . BTW I just paid £750 for a standard set (with discs) and I think that was a bargain.
Ha ha I won't be needing wets just yet ;-) £750 inc discs is a superb price. Where did you pick them up ?
I'm after a lighter mag wheel, the feel from the bike with lighter wheels compared to stock is like night and day. If it were cosmetic I'd keep the ones I have
Aren`t those a set of 1098S wheels in the first pic? Get a pair of OZ racing wheels either ally or what about a pair of satin finish carbon BST`s ? I`d avoid mag THB as will suffer in the long term with corrosion.
The OZ Forged Alloy wheels look the best in my opinion, are lighter then the stock Base model wheels, but believe it or not, heavier then the "1199 S/R" Model wheels. The 1199SL Marchesini Mag Wheels apparently are 1kg lighter then the already light 1199S/R Wheels according to MCN Tester.
Im not too sure what the wheels in the first pic are from tbh. I ran mag wheels on my 748RS track bike a few years ago and loved them. I want to stick with Marchisini wheels rather than Oz etc. I'm not interested in Carbon wheels (and I'm not interested in spending £2.5k for a set either)for the roads at all. Seen too many crack over the years.
