Seriously thinking of changing the seat, looks like there are 2 options, comfort or race seat. Whats the difference between them, as the price seems pretty much the same, or are there other options that I have not come across as yet.
I believe the race seat is pretty much the same as standard albeit described as having a Technical Fabric. The comfort seat is a thicker seat with specific density foams apparently. I thought I heard someone say it's 10mm thicker than the standard but cannot confirm this. I was originally thinking about the comfort seat but the comfort has improved significantly on mine after 2,000 miles. Standard is pretty slippy so I'm tempted to go for the race seat with more grip (neoprene based) material.
Comfort seat rasies the seat height by 20mm and is a big improvement over the std in both grip and comfort. However, after 1,000 miles I still cannot get used to the extra load on my wrists due to increased seat height. I am now having the std seat remodelled with minimal height increase, gel pads inserted and recovered in leather similar to what Corbin would produce if they got their arse into gear. As said above, I believe the race seat has the std seat dimensions with the same "technical" non-slip cover as the comfort item hope this helps
Thanks for the info, I think the race seat maybe the way to go for me, as its approx same thickness. Especially as I dont find the standard one uncomfortable, but slippery.
I have fitted the comfort seat and find it much more comfortable than the OE, it also stops me sliding around and banging my balls on the tank every time I hit the brakes.
Disagree - the race seat is nowhere near the same as the standard seat. I have the race seat fitted. It's quite a bit higher than the standard seat, as well as having more grip. I find it significantly more comfortable that the standard seat. The extra height also made all the difference on my knees on longer trips. Google the topic and you will find a number of threads related to these seats. The consensus as far as I could tell is that the race seat is the best option of the three (irrespective of whether you track the bike), many arguing it is more comfortable than the comfort seat. Ian
i believe that the majority of seat changes on the US Panigale forum are to the race seat too. That is what I have and at 19st fully laden on the bike, I still find it comfortable on long journeys.
JHP have some seats they had made up, pretty similar to the stock one dimension wise except carbon base and the seat is nice and grippy. Picked one up for mine and love it (as do my balls!)
I agree with this and I'll add that fitting this seat helps with the heat from the exhaust warming your ass. Davy
I agree with this and I'll add that fitting this seat helps with the heat from the exhaust warming your ass, i.e. not so much heat transfer as standard seat. Davy
I fitted the comfort seat as i thought the race seat looked a bit cheap. All I can say is its way way better than the standard seat. Cant comment on the race one.

I'll grab some pics at lunchtime and pop them up. Price wise I think it was £150 or so, maybe a little more. I'd need to look at the receipt to be sure.
That's the seat, pics might not be the best though...not my forte for sure. There is a snap of the bike with it on in the Panigale gallery thread
Hi, I've just bought a Cat D 2013 abs model, which has a comfy seat fitted. Will take a better pic when it gets delivered on friday if your interested bud?
