12 Month Service

  1. Hi folks, not been on here in a while, hope everyone is well.

    I have a servicing query.

I bought my MTS12 ABS in December last year, I had the first service completed at 600 miles around May time and I am now sitting on just over 3000 miles.

I received an email from Ducati saying that I am due my 12 month service, which they are obviously taking from date of purchase.

I have only covered 2500 since my last service, is it really worth me getting it done again so soon? If I put it off until March and a few more miles on the clock would this affect my warranty and full service history record?

I know there will be Winter offers on servicing and I believe Riders are doing it for £129 so could be worth the saving over MotoRapido at the £180 they have stated.

    Thoughts?

  2. Given the potential fragility of some (major) bits as highlighted on this forum, I'd advise doing whatever is neccessary to maintain the manufacutrers warranty for as long as possible. If memory serves and don't put money on that, I believe you have 30 days grace. Talk to your dealer, you never know, you might be pleasantly surprised. Andy

  3. Anything other than an immaculate service history will affect its residual value, so skipping services is usually a false economy

  4. This is something I thought about actually but never got round to asking my dealer. 2 ways to look at it and I agree with both in certain ways.
Is the 1st year service a year after the run in service ?
    Or
Is it a year from first registration ?

As if its not uses much some people can stretch out their run in service to the first year and beyond. I've seen countless bikes 2-3 years old with less than 600 on the clock.
    Arguments both ways I suppose.

  5. The service schedule calls for a service at 600 mile/6 months (whichever comes first) then annually from registration or every 7500 miles.

  6. So looks like I need to get it done around the end of Dec early Jan as I collected the bike the day after Boxing Day last year.

How well, at least I can take advantage of the Winter Servicing rates.

  7. If they are filling out the service book then the next due date should be in there?
