Considering a MS but what are the differences between the two models and in your opinion which one would be better? Rich
If you can afford the 1260s, go for it. I'm on my second Multistrada and tested a 1260s last week. I'm planning on buying a 1260s next spring.
3 versions of the 1200, 2010-2012 mk1, 2013 mk2 twin spark, 2014-2017 mk3 dvt. You have base, S with electronic suspension, Touring S with electronic suspension, Pikes Peak with manual suspension apart from the 2014 model, Enduro with odd sized wheels and big fuel tank. Original 1200 has more pep and get up and go than either the twin spark or DVT. The 1260 is a re-design with the X Diavel engine, and more touring focussed. Longer wheelbase different frame geometry. Rumour is the 1260 is history to be replaced by the V4, certainly the 2020 build allocation was fulfilled. Ride a DVT and a 1260 to help make your mind up. I’d pit my 1st gen 1200 against any one of the later bikes but mine is special. Andy
On my 4th Multi, current is a 2018 1260S and IMO the best so far. the Original 1200 2010 model is vert tuneable and a good one is fun, The twin spark was smoother and the DVT smoother still but lost some sparkle. The 1260S has all the toys you need and in Sport mode will hang on with the sports bikes on track and beat them on the twisties, in touring mode it will tour and munch miles with al the luggage and still be fun when you get to the destination. No idea what urban and Enduro modes do
