1260 1260 Enduro Low Seat

  1. Coming back into biking after an 8 yr lay-off. Last bike was a 2008 GSA (I.m only 5'9") and it was a little tall for me.

Now looking at a (2019/20) 1260 Enduro. Has anyone got one with the low seat? I understand that it's an accessory but lower the std height by 20mm. Is it at the expense of reduced comfort? I had a go on a 1260S before lock down and felt the seat height was fine, although it does seem to push you forwards into the tank. Any comments on lowering the Enduro seat height would be welcome.

  2. The std seat has 2 positions, i'm 5' 7" and find the std seat in low position fine on my 1260S. Do you know which position the seat was in when you had a go?

  3. Not sure which position it was in, but I could balls of both feet comfortably on the ground, but my question is really related to the Enduro (2020) which is taller.

  4. The standard Multistrada 1200/1260 seat (they are the same) does push you onto your nuts against the tank. That can be overcome with a Touratech seat.

The Enduro though is a chunk of change taller. I know they claim 20mm lower on seat height, but if its anything like the non-adjustable seat on the early Multi, when fitted with a 20mm lower seat...it'll make little difference at all.

If you are short of leg, you might want to look away from the Enduro version unless you can live on tip toes.

  5. I recently bought and am using a ‘low’ OEM seat on my ‘19 1260s and strangely, find it more comfortable that the standard seat i.e. does not push you forward as much. I am also 5’9” with a 31” inseam and while I could almost flat foot with the standard seat in the low position, the low seat is perfect. As I approach 60 years, the confidence in being able to flat foot on either side is worth the price.

I did consider the Enduro (very briefly), but it was simply too tall and top heavy. The low seat made little difference.

  6. I’m 5’11” with a 29 “ inseam. Have a 1200 enduro with standard seat. Raised the forks almost 10mm ( as far as they go) and use adventure boots with thick soles. It’s ok. 1260 is 15mm lower still.

  7. The Enduro has a different style seat, much more comfortable than the other Multis. It doesn’t tip you forward in the same way. I’m a similar height and I found it ok, but more tip toe than a standard bike. I can’t comment on the lower seat though I’m afraid.

  8. The OEM low seat was the first mod for me, still as comfortable as the original and have had no issues with being pushed forward as you mention..

  9. I own a 2018 multi 1200 enduro. I’m 5’9 and can ride the bike no problem, it is a bit too tall for me but I’m currently looking at different options to make the hight more manageable. The bike itself especially off road is unbelievable

  10. 6'5", 36" inseam, 1200 Enduro, don't see the problem myself
