Does anyone know how difficult it would be to fit my old 1260 top box to the V4 I'm hoping its just a matter of buying the new mounting base ??
I've got a top case from a 1260 (bought from here) on my V4S. I just bought the Ducati mounting plate and fitted the spare key barrel. No problems.
Hi Do you know the part number for the mounting plate? I have an OEM large top box and have just done a deal on a V4S. I presume the top box will just slide onto the mounting plate as on my old MTS1200s? should the new bike have a spare key barrel?
Part number is, I think, 96781771AA. Not cheap (about £160 in the UK), but it’s designed to flex. Givi Monokey fitting. There should be a spare lock barrel with the bike. Mine was in the toolkit/puncture repair pouch. HTH.
Hi, sorry but just want to clarify. I popped into the dealer today and the new base plate did not fit the new top box. That's ok as I have the one I had on my MTS1200S. I thought it would be a standard Givi fit, unless Ducati have changed the latest top box? The dealer said it was about an inch out. The new top box comes complete with a base plate apparently? Maybe a different size but they don't sell that separately! The top plate as you kindly gave the part No. for states it is only for the aluminium case. I presume that is to get you to spend more money, but can you just check I have the same configuration you had. I can take the box into the dealer I guess. ps' got the lock thanks. My top box is as attached.
I had exactly the same top case and it fitted the Ducati plate perfectly. It’s a standard Givi design, albeit with the ability to flex (like the panniers do). The newer metal top case for the MSV4 has a different base plate I think. Perhaps the dealer showed you the wrong plate?
I don’t know who makes the new aluminium luggage, but the panniers and top case (the ones with the colour matched inserts) use Givi latches and locking mechanisms, so I assume they’re Givi made.
