1260 1260s... Dwc Fault?

  1. Hello.. Dug the bike out last week been out for a ride, the DWC is displaying an error and the bottom of the display the triangle is flashing, the rear shock is lite up yellow on the display.
    Ive checked the connections on the black box nothing damp and all the fuses test OK.
    Any ideas??

  3. I've never done that in the 18 months I've owned it
     
  4. On other Multis this fault was traced to the wiring to the rear accelerometer. The wire was too short and the tightness was causing issues. Think it was a recall on those bikes.
     
  5. Hi Chris, just this minute I've been looking at that cable on the bike and tracing it, the lock nut is still yellow I'd guess this is the manufacturers?
    Plus I'm really struggling to get any resistance reading though the pins at the plug.
     
  6. I've started tracing the front one now, the cable does go through some sharp turns, disappears round of the tank area, will investigate more tomorrow in the light.
     
  7. Bike booked into the dealers, see what they find
     
  8. Had the bike into the main dealers this morning, the small black box under the seat is the problem.
    A new one is on order, to be fitted in a few weeks £328 job.

  9. I would very much like to see what is inside the box and see if it is repairable. Will you ask for the old one back?

  10. Yes I'll ask for the black box I'll open it up and see what's gone on inside.
    The c-tek charger I use when the bike is in the garage, I'm told the box can get a spike and damage the box??
    I will ask can this happen again if the charger is used.

  11. Probably just a generic fault, had one yesterday days before an annual service. Luckily its just a ghost in the machine style thing. Turn it off, leave it 20minutes & it might clear once you go back.

Bike been fixed today, new black box fitted all OK now, borrowed a ducati multistrada v4s was a great bike felt lighter and flickable the quick shifter worked better than mine and at lower speeds. I did press the toggle switch instead of the indicator switch as the position has moved slightly apart from that the bike was fantastic.
    I got the old black box from the 1260 apart but no evidence of any fault but must of been somewhere.

  13. With all that potting they clearly do not want you prying in there!!!
     
  14. Thank you for the update it is good to that they're potted so as to make them less vulnerable to the elements, though I'm not sure how the dissipate heat build up if there is any.
     
  15. Am I right that you borrowed the black box from the ducati multistrada v4s and installed it on the ducati multistrada 1260s? And it worked great?
     
  16. I stand to be corrected but I think that the dealer leant him a V4s to play on whilst they worked on his bike. That's the way I read it anyway.

    It's a tactic that dealers use here to make you like the next best thing. Worked on me once, went to dealer to get a new fuel line for my VFR750 and came home to explain to the wife why I'd put a deposit on a VFR800 VTEC... :D

    My Ducati dealer has leant me a Monster 1200s, a V4 Panigale, a smaller Monster and a V4s Multistrada... all without success on their part but a nice distraction whilst you're having a service done.
     
  17. Had a similar error on my 1260s the other day.

    Apologies for the fuzzy pic...

    Plugged in the ODBStar and read the errors

    Pretty confident that the top and bottom errors are the result of the middle two... Replacement rear wheel speed sensor from a V4 PP Multi sitting on my kitchen table. I'll be fitting that tomorrow if I can find the time.
     
  18. I had a rear sensor error. After resetting the error went away. It didn't solve the DWC problem. I found a bbs unit from mts1200s (2016). According to the electrical diagram they are compatible. I will try to connect and test in 2 weeks.
