1199 1299 Dda/gps Compatability With 1199

  1. Hi
Have the opportunity of getting a 1299 DDA/GPS set for a decent price, and was wondering if it would work on the 1199. I would assume it should work as the 1299/1199 are pretty similar in build up, of course I wouldn't get any data for the lean angle, DWC channels as the 1199 doesn't have those, but would expect RPM, speed etc to work.

Has anyone tried this and can comment? Thank you in advance for any comments :)

  2. Hi

The GPS will work with no issues.

The DDA will work, however, like you said it won't pick up the extra channels that the 1299 has, but also, it may say "unknown device" on the dash. The data will still be logged though even though it shows that error.

I haven't tried your combination, however, I have a 1299 with a 1299 specific dda, and also a spare 1199 dda which I don't use anymore. It worked, didn't log the extra channels, and the unknown device was shown. I bought the 1199 one first, but the unknown device error was bugging me so eventually got a 1299 specific one.

  3. Just so I know, what are you looking for? Just auto lap times or you want to export the data for analysis?

  5. Thanks for the replies. It is just for fun to be able to see some data for analysis when I use the bike on track days to see a bit more how much the TC is stepping in and how much of a chicken I am on the throttle :-D

  6. Do you have a windows machine or macbook ? If the latter don't bother.

  7. Yeah I found this out the hard way o_O. Can't even use my work laptop because it encrypts anything you plug in.
