1299 1299s First Run

  1. Well after a long wait I finally managed to get a run on my new 1299S

The bike was delivered to our place in Spain a couple of weeks ago and that's me just managed to get over.

I took it from San Miguel de Salinas to Murcia over the back roads and all I can say is wow, what a bike.
Certainly different to what I'm used to (Jap inline 4s) but I love it. Oh and the TC defintely works! I don't know if it's normal or if the tank wasn't completely full although it did look to be but only managed 61 miles to a tank.
Anyway I had great fun and I can't believe how small and light it is. It makes the R1 feel like a tank.

I'm booked on at Cartagena next week although the forecast is rain. If it stays dry then I might take it along and have a little play

  2. Nice one.

Sounds like the tank wasn't full. You should be getting at least 70 miles to the tank if you're riding it properly ;)

  3. I got about the same mileage and ran out of petrol on my first outing. Had to do the walk of shame to a garage in my leathers. When the fuel light came on I got about 10 miles I think. Once it was run in it all seems fine and can get 100 if I take it easyish... But that's hard to do :tongueclosed:

  4. Yeah I can imagine, especially on these Spanish back roads with no traffic. Think it too 13 liters to fill it?

  5. 17 litre capacity I think.
