Hi there im lucky enough to have 3 bikes but had to sell the r1m today leaving me with a 1200s monster and my 1299s panigale i rang mce to tell them to take r1m of insurance and was told i had to pay a 5k excess because ducatis are high risk! Anyone else had silly quotes on insurance or are they picking on us mad 50 year olds Cheers
Sounds like you live inside the m25 & so the increase in your homes equity is been stolen potentially by the insurance companies. Sounds bonkers but are you full comp or 3rd party??
I've got a 1299S and a 2004 monster 620. Bikesure wanted £1050 to renew the pair with them, that's with 8 years no claims (35 yrs old now). MCE was the cheapest quote at £622 for just the Panigale (cheapest I could find) and even MCE wanted £1600 for the pair of bikes. Cheaper to insure the monster separate without any no claims bonus which came in at £205. Worth mentioning I don't live in London tho.
Ridiculous quotes - try Ducati Insurance, just insured my R1 and 1098R for around £300 with very little excess
Cheers ill give them a go in morning i live in sunny hull so not a busy city like london im shocked to say the least lol
Ducati Insurance are okay, despite them insisting on my DVLA License summary to be sent to them. After a week or so trying to do the online thing and failing and a few calls to DVLA to get an access code, they realised as I still have a paper licence, they dont actually need it. Eventually some good lad at DI understood and waived the requirement. But it was a pain in the ass and I was considering cancelling due to the fuss. However all is good now and DI are forgiven. But their price is fair and theyre quite good on the phone. I dumped Carol Nash as they refused to insure my 1299S as I was stood at Snells picking bike up, despite insuring my 916 and 1198. So thats CN and BeWiser I wont go anywhere near ever again. Snells recommended them. I love that dealership. Its the best. So if youve a paper licence be sure to tell them you dont need dvla summary.
