Right its nearly time for the 1st service and ive also ordered the 14tfront sprocket... Does this affect any of the elecronic wizardry?
I have gone 2 up on the rear sprocket, fitted 3k miles ago,no problems with mine. But in another thread a while ago the 1199 owners said there was a software update when they changed there gearing.
No software update on the 899 but they have to stick it on the dyno and re teach it where the gears are
So the 899 challenge boys have to stick there bike on a dyno every time they change gearing over a race weekend ?.Cant see anything being needed the rolling radius of the wheels remains the same so tc will not be affected . PM Nicky Wilson he would know for sure.
All I know is when I had my front done on the 899 the mechanic at my dealer said he would have to teach it where the gears are again, is it software I have no idea it might just be software to show where the rev limiter is I aint got a clue.
So I'm guessing the -1 on front or +2 rear just gives the bike a bit more bang at the expense of top end is that right?
Correct,i happen to have a +2 rear sprocket for the grand sum of a £5 if anyone is interested,i am still running +2 at rear just the sprocket did not fit my new wheels.
I may take it off you if it fits standard wheels? What does the +2 do to the gearing for commuting, filtering if you have tried? I did the -1 +1 on my 675R and it certainly made it quicker to pickup but a lot revvier in traffic. Does it put the speedo out on the 899 or does it take it from wheel speed sensors?
It has helped my 1199 filtering in traffic. Used to be a bit revvy in first but now it's a breeze in 2nd. As far as I am aware it does not affect speedo
