Here we have for sale my 1959 Ducati TS. It is a 98 CC 4 stroke single and has been authenticated as a 1959 bike by "The Society of Vehicle Historians". I bought this a while ago with the idea of doing a full restoration but basically I have run out of mechanical talent and also developed a costly obsession for European Track Days ! So this has to go. It was bought as a non runner with a lot of parts in a box and is now as you can see in the pictures, completely together with all the rare original parts, the tank, gas caps, headlights and fenders are all very sought after as parts on their own right. There is no paperwork or history or anything it was a barn find that I bought off a bloke who was going to turn it into a café racer style bike, I was deciding on following that idea, but I ended up deciding it was better as a true original due to the fact you probably won't see another one in the UK, let alone one on the road. I have declared it on the Government NOVA site for import and the paperwork is all with the DVLA currently awaiting an age related number plate, along with a reg doc and tax disc. As it is pre 1960 it does not need road tax or an mot. Classic insurance for it is sub £100. It has brand new rims and spokes laced to the original hubs and brand new unused tyres. The electrics are cabled up and just need a 6v battery connected to the lighting circuits. It also has a key in the headlight which is very rare. As you can see from the video the engine runs and sounds good through the straight through pipe, (I also have the original silencer as well ), it is an effort to start though, I think it's points, or maybe carburation settings but my mechanical ability stops me investigating that any further than I have done, it's better but not quite there yet. There are parts available for these bikes but mainly direct from Italy through ebay or specialist websites. There is also an excellent and very informative pushrod singles yahoo group that I can introduce you too. So I'm looking for £1450 for it including it all being registered for the road. I hope someone with a bit more mechanical knowledge than me can get the engine running right and get it out on the road where it belongs Based in Woking in Surrey Video of the engine running WP_20140427_004_zpsc0d028c9.mp4 Video by Fastmonkey | Photobucket
When I was about 12 a neighbour of ours had one of those as a field bike, we had a stripped down Honda C90!
Reg doc has arrived today Very pleased to confirm that it has been classified as a historic vehicle and given an age related plate with a very cool reg no. Just needs a £0 cost tax disc I can't get that as it needs insurance first.
