As mentioned in a different thread, I have this wonderful bike now for sale. Asking price is £5100. (Shipping at additional cost) I bought this bike last March, freshly imported from Japan were it was sold new by Murayama in 1990 (check out the original Ducati Meccanica/Murayama badge with frame number stamped, screwed at the rear of the tail). It’s the first generation of belt driven 900 Supersport (1989-1990), with 2000 produced only. It is fueled by its original two barrels Weber carburetor (44-DCNF), has OEM 17’ wheels with two 300mm discs up front. 1st titled 02 Jun 1990 Frame ZDM906SC*001282* Motor ZDM906A2C*001265* Titled in France under my name as a classic/antique motorcycle as of may 2023. Original Japanese and import papers plus English translation included. The odometer is showing just under 36.400km (22.750 miles). These are original miles, as shown on the Japanese official certificate. As can be seen, the bike was barely ridden for the past 10 years or so. The absence of any corrosion shows that it was properly stored in a dry location. Unfortunately, it was imported without its service history…This called for a complete service reset which I performed myself during this past spring/summer (2023). That included : Engine oil and filter Plugs (NGK DCPR7E) Air filter Fuel filter and fuel pump pre-filter Clutch overhaul (deep clean, fluid flush, new fluid, bleed) Brakes (new fluid, bleed) Carburator (ultrasonic clean, refurbed, synched and CO (mixture) set. Belts Valve lashes (desmo service) Swing arm pivot lubed Exhaust refurb (inc. new hardware, etc.) Electric harness clean up and tidy. And many other bits that needed replacing to freshen up the bike and put it back to original (turn indicators, mirrors, clutch master cylinder, starter system, and various dried out rubber bits). I have not replaced the Bridgeston Battlax 21R as they are almost like new. However, they are dated 2009 so will absolutely need to be replaced before thinking about seriously riding this beauty. The bike is in a very good OEM condition, never restaured or repainted. I originally bought it as a donor for an identical bike I wanted to restore for myself, but as soon as I started taking it apart, I found it way to nice to part and I decided to put it back to its former glory and on the road as close from OEM as possible and most importantly, mechanically sound and reliable. It still needs a deep clean if you want it to be mint. It is priced it accordingly. The only mods I have noticed (and kept) are an HID front light bulb (shines bright white), corresponding electrical harness mods, additional heavy duty ground wiring and a key locking fuel cap. The sale includes: 3 keys (1 x contact, 1 x tail, 1 x fuel cap) and doubles Bikelift ear stand (brand new) Spare parts catalog (printed from microfiches) Workshop manual Commercial three fold (nos) All bills from recent service Much more about this bike (and her twin sister) here: https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/1989-900-supersport-in-france.95284/ Original importer listing : https://www.bike-eco.fr/632945-DUCATI-900-SS-pole-position-moto Don’t hesitate to contact me (PM) if you are interested. Thank you Jon. It’s a cool little story, too, with the buyer being nostalgic of his Dad’s bike bought new in 1990. He’s buying it for a showroom duty rather than a road use. I told him: « Wait until you try it! ». They seem to be difficult to find in actual good shape. I am glad this one will be getting true love and care after having spent some time in storage somewhere in Japan.
Just out of curiosity can i ask if the buyer is a member of this forum, not giving any details obviously.
