1992 900 Ss Mono/single Seat

  1. I am very tempted from the single seat option, SL lookalike that i have also seen on many of the SS on this forum and i wonder if you guys can point me out where to get one from? Anyone selling one or help me to source one?

  2. Have you looked at the Ricambi Weise website?

  3. A couple of tips when considering fitting of a genuine or aftermarket solo seat unit to a 90s SS. The Oem seat is heavy and comes with rear mounts bonded in . These sit on the rear frame rails , the earlier superlights (up-to MkIV? ) only use the 4 wellnuts to support the front of the seat which regularly split and cracked the seat unit around the mount holes. Ducati released a below seat pair of brackets and rubbers to support the front of the seat unit on the frame rails to solve(?) this issue, these are (or were) still available from ducati parts and is recommended (for oem or aftermarket seat units) with the well nuts just giving a fixing method to stop it falling off. On most (all?) aftermarket seat units the rear frame mounts aren't supplied so will need some form of fabrication/bonding or try fitting it without and hope it doesn't sag into the rear light.

  4. Ricambi Weiss on mine. Not the best fit around the tailight, some people modify, I didnt. Very happy otherwise. Budget for painting, brackets, and seat pads. 16494113018423301413338709693570.jpg 16494112126996586394277257774991.jpg

  5. I've got this one ready to go on a future project but don't know who made it.

I like the slightly more rounded and tapered design that is not as Deep at the rear as the standard one.

You can see the subtle difference compared to the more standard shape one I put on my 1000SS/900SL Hybrid:

Although I got round the huge rear light opening on that by filling it in and using a pair of tiny LED rear lights.

And yes, as mentioned the rear really needs to be supported with some brackets somehow.

If you are interested in how I mounted it look at post #9 in my build thread:
