1993 900SS clutch slave cylinder

  1. I have bought a slave cylinder from a later model 750SS, it has the star shaped moulding on the front. I've offered it up to my bike, the holes are in the same place so it appears to fit ok. It came with a metal pin about 1/2 inch long and I'm wondering what this is. Does anyone know if this later type of slave cylinder is ok for my bike?
    Many thanks

  2. Is it because the push rods are different lengths?

  3. What you describe sounds like an OEM slave cylinder. The pin is possibly from an aftermarket slave cyclinder as a spacer was sometimes required for the push rod to give it full range of movement. Any pics?

  4. As I am new to this particular forum can you tell me how to upload photos from photobucket? Fairly sure both slave cylinders are oem

  5. That's OEM

  6. That was my original question. Should the later part I bought work on my bike. At the moment I've fitted it but can't bleed the bleedin thing!.

  7. The later star slave cylinders use a longer push rod than the older type. The part you have is an adaptor to use star type with old push rod. I think they go in slave end.

  8. Try bleeding from master cylinder via banjo bolt, sometimes they airlock. Slacken it off a bit with some rag under it and pump gently while nipping bolt on release stroke a couple of times. You can put a banjo with nipple at master for futre use, only a couple of quid.

  9. Thanks guys will give it a go during the week and report back. Indoors now as it is cold.

  10. Bled from master cylinder as suggested and now much better. Still a bit spongy so have taped lever to handlebar and will leave overnight.

    Thanks again
