1995 900ss Forks In Need Of Tlc

  1. As part of the renovation of a badly neglected 1995 900ss I need to refurbish the original USD Showa forks. I imagined that they might just need a service with new seals. However on closer inspection off the bike the anodising is badly pitted and in one place there's a deep gash and the surface has lifted up (see pics). This damage is clearly more than just the anodising.
So what's to be done? Are they repairable? Does anyone know where I can get such repair work done?
    Thanks

  3. Have had several forks go that way from SS to 996. I liken it to dry rot or cancer as the damage is more than skin-deep unfortunately and if you're looking to try and get your forks looking as new then it's a waste of time imo. I just put up with mine as they hadn't seriously affected the clamping areas. Worst case scenario is that you actually find bits will flake off or can be chipped off easily.
