1998 916 Front Wheel Removal

  1. Is there a technique to remove the front callipers from the front wheel. The clearance seems very tight almost on the verge of marking the paint work.

    thought it was best to ask first without causing any cosmetic damage

  2. You need to push the brake pistons back, then you can tilt the calipers a bit and they clear the wheel.

  3. I used to gently twist the calipers to move the pistons back, as above.

  4. If you’re not sure with twisting the caliper, pull the pads out. That’ll give you loads of wiggle room

  5. You can also put some tape on the rim or a sheet of paper to protect. :upyeah:
     
  6. I use a large flat-head screwdriver between disk and pad. Just twist the srcewdriver and it pushes the disk/pads apart giving enough room to slide off the disk - it only needs a few mill.
