1999 900ss failure to start

  1. Hi, My 1999 900ss refused to start. There is plenty of juice in the battery but the engine does not turn over. There is a vibrating sound and the tacho needle rises to 7000 rpm???? Anyone know where I should start looking to sort this problem? The bike has not been run for about 3 weeks. It is maintained on an Optimiser to keep the battery topped up.

  2. starter solenoid connections. starter motor stuck. starter relay. battery connections. all earths.

  3. Belt snapped on vertical cylinder??......can't be the horizontal one if the rev counter is working.

Turning over at 7000rpm suggests summink major wrong................I can't imagine a battery spinning the engine at that speed, even with the plugs out.........get the belt cover off before anything else I reckon.

  4. the rev counter wazzing up to 7k without the motor running sounds electrical/ecu to me. I have a spare ecu if you want to borrow it to try.
