Help wanted please for a newbie 2001 ST4S hasn't run for 18 months, can't start it because no spark or fuel pump running, I have completely run through all wiring and relays etc and gave up. It was taken to the local ex ducati dealership who plugged it into the diagnostics which stated an immobilizer problem. They can run the bike on a different bikes ECU but don't want to supply a really expensive new ECU. They don't know anybody in the UK that can remove or short out the immobilizer from the ECU. Any ideas please Thanks for reading Brianmor
Hi I am new to site and have seen you know about st4s immobilizer issues, could you help I have a 2001 st4s 996 and have found the immobilizer is playing up intermittently fuel pump not always priming and backfiring, it is sometimes a worry to think I will not get home, after ride out, what’s the best way to sort this issue, can a. 998 ecu be fitted or can you do away with immobilizer unit, I did have it scanned with Texa and 2 faults that where stored Dtc where immobilizer and RPM sensor, any help or advise greatly appreciated thanks mike
May be an old thread but immo problems for the ST4S are common. Solution has been to disable the immo in the ECU and remove the separate immo box. PM sent to OP.
I realise that, it remains resurrected though and with the same 30 post quota before you can start a conversation.
There's also the specific issue with the 2001 ST4S ecu's. There was a workshop advisory for them, Ducati just replaced them with a 2002 onwards one although if you scan one once fitted to a 2001 bike, it will throw up a starter circuit fault if you run it on a Mathesis or similar as the later bikes had the starter running until the bike starts unlike the earlier bikes that didn't operate the starter via the ecu.
