Hi guys, Bit of a problem with the bike, it was running fine and starting ok 2weeks ago. Adjusted my quickshifter which seemed to make the fuel pump run continuously whilst doing it. now it won't start, backfires like a pro and flattens batteries. i've got a nice healthy spark on both cylinders, plenty of compression, no error codes on the dash and i can hear the fuel pump priming. No blown fuses either. i suspect either the starter clutch may be toast as it barely engages and spins over freely a lot. i also wonder if it toasted a sensor somewhere partially. Any ideas? cheers chris
Probably no help as a different bike but, my 900ss would backfire like a b`stard after a winter lay up. New plugs cured it, every time. The old plugs had a good spark but it wouldn`t start without new plugs. Go figure.
might be worth a try. i had the plugs out and they were very carboned up. Gaps were a bit big as well. and corroded
no joy with the earth leads and plugs. motor just wont spin over properly. i suspect sprag now. anyone had one changed? expensive job?
I'm attempting sprag change this week mate as mine has clearly bitten the bullet . I get just a whining noise to tell me something isn't engaging . Just trying to source a how to guide to ensure its all done right. Waiting for a quote from ducati manchester too just as a backup . I'll keep you posted on price . Andy
I had mine done not too long ago, seems it's quite a common ailment. I found a good website where i got my parts from, i'll try and find the link.
Here:Star Twin: the online shop for Ducati OEM spare parts and accessories. The parts that failed for me were: Number 20- 0001326 electric starter driven gear Number 21-0001327 starter clutch
