Hi, I have a 2004 (fully carbon version) Ducati 749R. 11,000 miles, only done 2000 miles since 2009. I only done 400 miiles on its last MOT...It has a single headlight, one at the bottom and not the stacked headlight, using an endurance style light. Carbon mirrors and not the hideous dumbo mirrors. SES racing clock mount, designed for the original clocks. I done away with the headlight bucket and the main and dipped beam headlights, this has made the bike much lighter by using a single high and low beam headlight...MOT legal. Has all the usual, slipper clutch, termi end can. I have added d.b. screen, magnesium sprocket cover, carbon corse airtubes, samco hoses, carbon plate hanger, integrated rearlight with indicators, alloy pegs, pedals and fuel cap, carbon key cover, frame guards and key cover...plus loads more. Will need new belts as been 2 years, I have Ducati Perforamance belts. Last major service was 2009 by GTEC Performance, since then it has covered 2000 miles and had oil and filter, brake fluids, new pads changed. Will need seat and tail unit as I was going to get a carbon one and have it all red, as dont like the chavy white numberboard. I sold the original to fund the headlight conversion. Just wondering what price, I've seen 749S models going for £5500-£5595 on ebay, Im guessing they are only worth what folks want to pay. Maybe I will upload some pictures, just that its wet today so cant get her out of garage! Just seen a 749R, don't know what mileage, go for £6499.00 with faulty wiring loom and cracked fairing panel!
2005 one with under 2000 miles here at a dealers to give you an idea http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...00/postcode/hx49jh/quicksearch/true?logcode=p
If I were looking for a 749R it would be the 2004 model , but , originality would be a big need for me . Wouldn't be bothered about stamps in a book on a 10 year old bike but I would want all the original bits .
This is the bike before the carbon mirrors and single headlight. The single headlight is exactly the same as looking at 749 999 but with only the bottom light, and its slightly smaller. Also it was the carbon single headlight unit from Ducati Performance, same as original, but obviously single and the projector light supplied by Endurance, who made the endurance lights for the 999 racers. Maybe I will have to get some pics soon. Excuse refuse bins in background!
Looks good . Shame you let the carbon seat go as they are rare . Its got to be more than 5.5 to 6 K looking at it but knowing theres a few parts different .
I made that carbon seat myself as been making carbon parts for years, Im after the Corse carbon seat and tail all in one.
Unfortunately a young family doesn't give me time to make much carbon...just made some carbon underseat infill covers and been selling them for a fair whack, they sit over the original plastic, but hides the ugly bolt hole and can be removed as and when...but can only make one a month, if that, so time consuming. See pic...
Yeh, mine had that one and later models didn't. Although the numberboard part of the tail was plastic! I also had the magnesium headlight bucket, which I sold for £700.00 on fleabay...that funded the headlight conversion!
I think the originality will knock you back a grand or two - I am still interested in one but wouldn't consider this with so many original parts gone I'm afraid, even at £6K There's a 749S for sale on MCN for £3300 now - I guess yours would top out between £5K and £6K on an Ebay auction with £0.99p start, but only one way to find out ;-) Best to wait until spring of course.
Been offered 6k 2 weeks ago as that was my asking price, he said no more than £5300, but he changed his mind when he saw it in the flesh!
So my analysis was quite good then why didn't you take £6K. I have turned an original carbon one down at £7.5K with half your mileage.
