1200 2012 Rear Brake Replacement For 2015

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Beef, Nov 21, 2022.

  1. Currently swapping out my rear brake system (2015 disc, caliper & caliper hanger)
The hub & axles are the same on the bikes but the swingarms are different part numbers.
Before I get the 2015 caliper bracket, does anyone know if the ‘torque lug/locating dowel’ that holds the bracket in place are in the same position on both arms? - is the 2015 caliper hanger going to fit my 2012 arm?
    Thanks

  2. Unfortunately I cannot provide an answer to your question but out of curiosity, what benefit are you expecting to gain from fitting a 2015 rear brake set up to your 2012 ? My daily ride is a 2012 Multistrada and my track ride is a 2010 Multistrada and with only minor changes, lack of rear braking is not something I have experienced. Andy

  3. I think it was down to it being damaged on a recent trip in Europe

  4. I fitted a HEL rear caliper with the bleed nipple at the top to my 2011. Whilst the fluid still needs replacing semi regularly at least the performance is great when done.

It's quick to do as the nipple is in the right place so saves having to remove the can, wheel, caliper and putting on top of the disc as recommended by Ducati to bleed properly.

  5. Yes indeed it was damaged earlier this year, the 2012 has a bigger disc & different bolts - the disc bolts working lose only seems to have been a problem on the early bikes. I was actually happy with the performance of my back brake, just thought the bigger disc and larger pad area might’ve given a little more.
