Hi everyone, As seems customary these days I figured I should post and introduce myself. Having had 8 years away from bikes since I flipped a minimoto and cracked my knee knuckle pulling a wheelie I gave in last year and got myself a bike. At the time of 'minimoto gate' I had a SRAD 1999 GSXR600 but a year not being able to ride I sold it and brought a flashy car instead! Last year I stumbled across a Suzuki dealership and 3 days later I picked up a Black 2011 L1 GSXR600. It was the perfect bike to get me back in the saddle and I loved it. This year as it passed its first birthday I decided it was time to sell up and go for something a little more special. I looked at MV Augusta and a few other marks but then I spotted a hypermotard and thought it might be worth a look. I wanted to get away from 140 mph rides as I was either going to kill myself or get caught… I popped to my local dealer in Winchester and tested a 2012 789 HM. Sadly I hated it, the 79 bhp was weak and whilst it went ok it didn’t light my fire. As I left I spotted an 848 SF and was surprised it could pick up a new Ducati for 10.5k, expensive but I’ve always liked the SF. They had an ex-demo with 800 miles and a quick shifter on. I tested it and was sold. Sadly the salesman and myself didn’t seem to understand each other. I felt like I was buying the bike rather than him selling it, this didn’t work for me. I won’t go into detail but I walked out very disappointed. I then found CMW in Chichester, a Suzuki and Ducati dealer so they would be able to offer me a better price on my 600. They had an ex-demo, 334 miles and it was immaculate. I popped in on a Friday and collected the bike Saturday afternoon after work. I was very impressed with the service I received. Riding the 848 home was interesting. My legs were getting sucked apart down the m27 at 90+, the wind was strong which was fun, but still the sound of the V-Twin and the power delivery was awesome. I’ve now covered over 1000 miles on the days I can get out on the SF, and I’m hooked. The way it pops and bangs on overrun I will never get bored with. It draws people around it and I’m stunned how many people seem to like the aggressive styling. I can’t wait for some proper sun next year when I can get out and enjoy it more. That’s my story, sorry for the essay!! Simon
They're great bike them mate, been extremely tempted myself but until I ride the new hyper sp ill have to hold off to make my mind up..... Welcome
Thanks everyone. I was tempted to try the 1098 hyper but couldn't find one to test. The 798's seat was very uncomfortable and felt like I was sitting ontop of a peak!!
So talk to me about carbon bits and exhausts. £1900 for termis from the dealer seems a little steep, that's almost 20% of list price!!!
Don't bother with the full system, rear can should be sufficient as no real power gains to be had for the full system.
Try SC project for a single sided set up or if you want double then perhaps the akras. I like the new sc version myself. either 'may' need a remap from one of the ecu tuners up and down the uk but they're widely available and you don't need the DP ecu, in fact I believe power commander v's can now map the streetfighters properly as they open the loop but you may need to check with them first.
