2010-12 vs 2013 Multistrada back to back Hello. My first post. I hope you enjoy the article I found on twitter comparing the previous and present models. Testing the 2013 Ducati Multistrada (and how it compares to the 2010-12 Multistrada) | I'd rather be riding…
Interesting write up, thanks. Sounds exactly what I have been hearing since it's launch, I wonder how many 2nd hand MTS1200's will appear for sale once they start shipping in force from Bologna.
Just so we are clear, the test was actually a 2010 bike vs a 2013 bike not a 2012 as stated in the title
Just to add, the upgrades on the new bike look welcome but from a financial perspective there is no way that they warrant an upgrade for me personally, I love my 2012 ABS model and really can't see me changing it within 3-5 years, I may consider a 2017 model Pikes Peak though
The title of the post that was written stated 2010-2012. I think we can all figure out by reading the article what models are being talked about.
Cheers Phantomfighter that was a pretty good read. Sounds like another winner for Ducati. I wont be considering changing mine for a few years hopefully, given i am very happy with it and only got it last year, but if i did change, it sounds like they have made some worthwhile improvements and made it just different enough.
I think the main difference between these 2 bikes, is when your 2-up. The 2013 Skyhook models comes into its own in that respect. For a lone rider on a 2012 model no point in upgrading for that reason tbh. Sure some people with the original 2010 models may see the benefits here, but as they don't make a model in Black anymore I'll sit back to enjoying 1 of last Black 2012 models made. Enjoy whichever model you have, they're great.!.
Is it just me, or did anyone else get increasingly annoyed as they read that article at the sheer number of basic English grammatical mistakes in just about every sentence? I got the impression that I was reading something written by a non-native English speaker. I think I'm getting increasingly allergic to this. In particular, the writer seems to have no idea about which prepositions to use with which verbs. Interesting write up, but a bit like riding a bike where your spine is jarred every time you go over a bump.
I know, but even Americans should be able to do better than that. Incidentally, I was getting pissed off with the predictive text on my iPad, which continually came up with Americanisms even though I had it in English. I eventually found the answer: buried in the list of possible languages in which it would communicate with you was "British English" - under "B". Up until recently, English was British English (or real English as we like to think of it) and the bastardised US version was known as US English. Seems the Americans now think that English is theirs. You will also have noticed at the back of books: "Translated from the American by..." as if "American" is a real language.
This is the question I have been asking myself - is the 2013 much better than the 2012 version. I have the chance to purchase a great 2012 stacked with extras for a great price, question is, will the 2013 model warrant the extra price. Am riding a 1200GSA right now, love the fuelling and the ease of ride so am concerned by the reports aber fuelling and jerkiness of early multistrada models. i dont get the option to ride brilliant roads all the time so need something that is easy to live with on normal roads..... the GS performed excellently in Italy around all those hairpins at slow speeds, just not sure how the multistrada would compare there - any thoughts??
Fuelling is easily sorted, even if a fix hasnt been done already. Think the extra 50 horses over the GS may help you ignore it ;-)
haha, am sure the performance is awesome! Am just concerned I will be very "jerky" in riding it seeing as a lot of my rides are short and not always mid range revs..........
I did WDW last year in Italy Stayed in Urbino (Rossi Country) great roads and lots of hairpins, my bike was brilliant, they was a guy with us on a BMW K1300R not a GS i know, (but very fast and capable) and he was amazed how my bike fired out of the twisty corners using all that grunt! It was as if the bike was made for those roads..!
I was in that area too but unfortunately not for WDW - was amazing though and my bike performed amazingly. Am not the fastes or best rider and was amazed how easy the big GSA was to ride. I miss the Ducati character, is why I am considering a change BUT am just concerned I will miss this ease of use - was the first trip ever on a bike where I felt comfortable that I was in charge and moving it about....... That is what I want to feel on the DUC too - just concerned about the fueling issues I have heard about on the 2012 models
Mine is an early 2010 model. but i have had it custom remapped with a QD exhaust sytem. In all fairness it was jerky before this, and i can imagine it more than likley wouldnt be as smooth as your GS on those roads prior to a remap. But i must say i was having a ball on those roads!! Wish i was there now!
the bike of offer has the Leo Vince Carbon exhaust mounted plus loads of other extras - not sure if that has been remapped specifically - could imagine it may need it though? I had a moto morini granpasso and that fuelling was horiible - got rid of it after a short ownership, ktm adventure wasnt perfect either - is why I am a little concerned - guess I have to ride it before judging
Ill think you will find the GS a softer power delivery than the multi in touring or sport mode, but remember you could allways switch to urban mode and then you only have 100bhp on tap..? Like you say best to try one and see how it suits your riding style
