I want to change my steering head bearings from the OE ball races to taper bearings. I'm having trouble finding taper bearings specified for my 2015 S DVT. There are some made by All Balls from Australia on ebay for £38.70 plus £16.57 postage, but I don't want to pay that. There is a set from Koyo for £29.90 which makes more sense but they are listed for, among many other Ducati models, Multistradas from 2010 to 2014. I think they'd fit my 2015 and that the bearings are common for all Multistradas but I need confirmation. Can anyone tell me the OE part number for 2010 - 2014 Multis? The Ducati OE part numbers for 2015 Multis are: Bearing 70241231A Seal ring 93010041B Washer 85211031A (Not sure changing this washer is required) If they are the same then I can get them ordered. Thanks
Looks to me like the steering head bearings haven't changed: 2010 - bearing and seal same, washer is shown as 85211031AB 2013 - as 2010 2015 - as 2010 1260 MY 2018 - same again The bearings as listed as "Bearing, Conical Rollers" but all the diagrams shows ball bearings? The bearings for the 1260 as listed as "BEARING, STEERING NTN SF07A17P" Hendersons Bearings sell Genuine NTN SF07A17P(X1) bearings for £14.40 each (free shipping) and they are definitely have ball bearings. The size is 35 (ID) x 55 (OD) x 14.5 (width) mm. PyramidParts sells a Steering Head Bearing Kit for MTS1200 MY2017 at £28.99 (free postage) which looks like it includes both bearings and two new seals. Hope this helps,
Steve, you are the man. I thought you might have the answer. Thanks for that. I've seen the Pyramid Parts site but the description of fitments weren't entirely convincing. I saw the same as you about the OE bearings being describing conical rollers, but others tell me they are actually ball bearings. I'll get a set of Koyos ordered and book the bike in. Thanks again. Peter
I didn't change the bearings. I got a local independent, Jack Robinson (yes, that's his name and he's quick too, ex P&H) to do it. He did a good job and all is sweet now with the steering head. Ginge, I have never pulled a wheelie intentionally. It would scare the crap out of me
