Hi, I have a multistrada 1200 dvt year 2015. Engine management light showing on dash but bike running ok and showing no other problems. Has anybody quick fix or will i have to go to dealer for reset. Should I invest in dianostic tool and clear myself, thanks.
If the issue was a temporary one I think the light will disappear after a few ignition cycles with riding, or at least the engine running, in between. The error will still be logged though. Had the dash on my 1260 light up like a Christmas tree in the south of France with the EML illuminated for most if the rest of the day, went out later though, after a bit of riding with a few stops. Not sure why they call it the EML though, when I got home I plugged in the OBD Star, it was the rear wheel sensor. On inspection this had some very minor surface damage but still works, looks like something thrown up from the road must have been momentarily trapped between it and the perforated disc it reads wheel speed from.
thanks bumpkin, i havn't rode the bike much since the light came on, i've checked battery connections and even tried disconnecting and reconnecting battery but light still on, hopefully its something simple.
If there's a persistent issue, albeit a minor one that has no/negligible effect, then the light will remain on. You may need to take it to a dealer or find someone local to you on here with an OBDStar that can read the error. I'm guessing the EML is yellow rather than red. The latter indicates a more serious issue requiring immediate stop.
