2016 Scrambler Icon Dash Fault

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Hannann, Oct 1, 2019.

  1. Hi I have a 2016 Scrambler Icon with a dash fault
When I turn the bike on, all the functions on the outer ring work (indicators, neutral, ABS light etc) and the bike starts and rides fine but the center of the digital dash is blank and does not display odometer, speedo, rev counter etc
I have checked the fuse and checked continuity for the power cable from the fuse to the dash and both are ok.
A new dash is £580 and I dont know if Ducati will offer any good will warranty or cost reduction.
Does anyone know a digital dash repair company they could recommend,
    Thanks

  2. I would highly recommend Scorpio Electronics, Kings Lynn. They repaired a fault on the dashboard of my ST4s within a couple of days.
    I hope this helps.

  3. I would try disconnecting the battery for 24 hours to see if that clears the fault first,

  4. Thanks I will give them a call

  5. Thanks I will give it a try

  6. Did you sort this issue?

  7. Not yet. I will try disconnecting the battery this weekend

  8. Exploring the goodwill and speeding the diagnosis might make a trip to a dealer a good first step.

  9. Thanks I booked it in with the dealership but the earliest they can take it is 16th Oct so if I cant get to the root of the problem, hopefully they can fix it then

  11. Hi, how did you manage to sort this issue? Having the same with mine now. All other functions fine, fuses are fine but nothing on the screen. Can gat random characters from time to time but that’s it.

  12. Hi. I had the dash replaced. My local dealership was going to charge around £600 (I didn’t buy the bike from them and it was out of warranty) but I contacted Ducati UK to complain that the dash panel was a safety critical Item which shouldn’t fail and eventually they agreed to supply the dash at cost price which was around £250.

  13. I have had two of these units fail on my 2017 sled in 8000 miles and the problem is they are not water tight and the failure point is where the LCD flexi cable connects to the LCD glass (not the PCB connection). The first indication I had was temperature dependent missing segments. The first unit was replaced by Ducati, I a still negotiating with the second. Applying pressure to the display connector cured the problem suggesting that the conductive glue that forms the connection with the LCD is contaminated with the water ingress. This can be repaired or a new LCD fitted but Ducati and the original manufacturer will not sell this to you. See attached before and after fix. I will wait and see how my Ducati dealer gets on talking to Ducati to get a Goodwill claim. I live in hope [IMG][IMG] In my opinion this is a well known manufacturing fault that Ducati should have done a batch recall on as its a saftey issue. 14. I've got exactly the same issue with my 2018 Scrambler after riding in the recent bad weather. I've tried Ducati and they have told me as I do my own servicing that they will not replace. Has anyone managed to repair them successfully? If I take my dash off for a few days and then re-attach its ok for a few miles but then goes blank again. It's not a great situation as the bike won't start if the dashboard is blank!

  15. The problem is damp that interferes with the connection on the LCD. I have managed to get mine going again by applying pressure to this connection but it has eventually failed completely. I went through my local dealer who have managed to get Ducati to sell me one at cost £280, because I have had a service (oil change) done by a non Ducati dealer, they wont do a warranty swap. This will be my third one of these in 8000 miles. The manufacturer wont supply the faulty component (LCD) and neither will Ducati.

  16. I sent it off to Autotronics as they said they could repair it, but they have come back to me today saying they can't. I've tried Ducati Italy who wouldn't help without full service history, how did you manage to contact Ducati UK to get a replacement at cost?
