Hi All Was interesting to see 44 Teeth's '21 Superbike shootout on the IoM. They chose the '21 V4S as their favourite 1000cc (ish) bike - saying that against expectations, the V4 was the easiest to ride - and they put this significantly down to a change to Bridgestone tyres vs. Pirelli's - link to Youtube vid here: 2021 Isle of Man Superbike Shootout | RSV4 v S 1000 RR v Panigale v Fireblade v ZX-10R v GSX-R v R1M - YouTube Anyone have a view on that (the tyres) vs year on year model changes? Wondering how much difference a tyre change might make on a 2019 bike - if people buy what they are saying?
Sadly I haven’t ran both tyres on a Ducati but have run both and I love them both, I found the Ducati to be fine with the Pirelli tyres so not too sure whether there’s a bit of brand loyalty as they seem to be very biased towards Bridgestone. Realistically you won’t go wrong with either.
Think there maybe a little brand loyalty or sponsorship as there is a 44T video on how brilliant the A41’s are on the KTM Adventure. Still a good alternative to the Pirelli’s.
Tyre choice is always a tough one, used Metzelers for a long time then moved to conti race attack on my track bikes and they had same grip but 2-3 times the life and were cheaper. My cousin switch to dunlops and wont use anything else, I tried a set when they didnt have any medium rear conti's and round them useless so its all going to depend on riding style and setup Think there are allot of tyres up there now in terms of performance, so worth a chat with people in the know (Trackside suppliers are usually pretty honest in the most part as they want you to go back, and they get the most feedback from riders in everything from novice through to racing so will be able to offer street compound choices aswell as track tyres)
That, exactly. Main stream tyre manufacturers have cottoned on to the fact there is a huge and demanding sector out there and have seriously raised their game in recent years. Andy
There's another thread about the same thing, think it's called 44 Teeth or something, discussing exactly this, Bridgestones on a Ducati and how 44T basically would say they were amazing if they were made from Coal
Bridgestone front is better than a Pirelli front in my opinion. pirelli rear is better than the bridgestone rear for outright grip. Bridgestones last a bit longer. Although they’re not as amazing as some people go on about. v4 panigales with monster torque and power work better on slicks. Shock and horror.
