So what to do with these? i am planning to somewhat restore to original my 916S so do i sell as is or get them refurbed or just keep them. i dont think they are that common but they cost a lot to get refurbed and theres only one reputable place that does i dont know if they are worth more or less than the ones i need to source ie 3 spoke 94 date stamped three spoke ones
There looks to be a lot of surface corrosion on the rear wheel. Get them down to Steve to have a look at, he’ll give you an honest opinion if they are worth refurbishing or not. IMO, despite some if the asking prices, I’m not so sure these wheels are commanding the value they used to. Andy
It’s how they make your bike handle that’s invaluable. The difference with the 3-spoke cast-iron OEM wheels is just… scandalous. For someone into performance, there are newer carbon and/or mag options that will be better and safer than old late 90’s mags. Very expensive too. For someone into collection, these have long been out of production and are getting more difficult to source, especially in good shape. Which makes pristine ones expensive too. Saving yours seems like an honorable project. I doubt it is financially sound though. Worn mags have got themselves a bad reputation over the years. Rotten. If you have the monies and are looking for period correct looks, I’d look for a set in much better condition. I do not think I would risk/dare selling mags looking like these. Personally.
thanks everyone for your help i have contacted them and lets see what happens. i think i need to get them inspected and take it from there
