1200 52000 Oil Service Reminder Message

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Stavrich, Apr 3, 2020.

  1. Multi 1200s, 2013. 52000 oil service.

Got the usual oil service warning message at around 51400m. I did the service at 51800m and waited to go over the 52000m before clearing the message ( usual countdown messages appearing normally).

I am now over 52500m and there is no message to clear. After reaching 52000m the message gone on its own.

I was wondering whether is a cut off point of "overdue" messages...courtesy of Ducati but I doubt it :grinning: .

Has anybody else with over 52k noticed the same or mine is the exception...

  2. Mine at 37000 and 45000 both disappeared after a while.

  3. Fills me with optimism :upyeah: for my own bike that this model is still going strong after this amount of miles.:p

  4. The more and harder you ride them the better they get :). These bikes need more riding and less polishing (my excuse for mine being filthy most of the time ;) )

But mostly is down to good servicing ...

  5. I'm guessing you do all your own servicing then?....any top tips please?.....PS, I'm on a paultry 25k miles.

  6. Yes, doing my own servicing - both oil and Desmo and as I dont work against the clock I make sure all is done perfectly and not cutting any corners but also making sure to stop any issues before they happen by checking and taking the right action. For instance 4 weeks ago I noticed trying to turn the chain eccentric to adjust the chain was a bit stiff. The eccentric was very tight which meant it could get worse and seize up.
So... took the whole thing apart gave it a good clean, greased it and put back together. Hopefully now I have saved me a seized up eccentric and made the chain adjustement easy. Have a look at the photo...

  7. Is that a jubile clip made its way in there? how hard a job is that to take the hub out? I’d be interested in doing that myself. Any specialist tools? I’ve read about problems with dirt making its way into the hub via an open hole in the bottom of the swing arm that can be closed with a grommet.

  8. Is not a difficult job but you will need some strong and big circlip pliers ( i have a set of 12" long pliers - not the best quality but good enough ) and a soft head or brass hammer to free the eccentric and dont forget the wheel nuts...

Best do it sooner that later ... something to do nowadays whilst waiting for the virus to go away.

Jubilee clip - that was the jubillee clip used to secure the nozzle of the scotoiler that dissappeared a year ago...:)
