600ss Rear Suspension

  1. Hi
Daft question but presumably you measure the preload on the rear unit from the end of the threaded section to the top of the locking ring? The manual says 14mm whilst mine seems to be set at approx 22mm.

I'm not too heavy (72kg to be precise) so this might explain why it feels a bit stiff on bumps.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers
    Neil
ps I'll also check the damping settings when it is light!

  2. It depends on which shock you have fitted to the bike.....If it is the Sachs Boge one with the blue adjustment knob on top of the reservoir, it should be 14mm preload.

Rebound screw at the bottom, should be 6 clicks out (anti-clockwise) from fully screwed in (clockwise).

Compression blue knob, should be 25 clicks out (anti-clockwise) from fully screwed in (clockwise).

  3. Thanks Al,
Much appreciated. It is indeed a Sachs Boge and I have wound down the preload to 14mm. Also checked the rebound and compression which seemed to be set to the recommended clicks.
Saw a couple of videos on Youtube explaining about measuring 'Riders Sag' - I'll see how it feels on the standard setting first!
    Cheers

  4. Neil, if IIRC the rear static sag wants to be about 10mm and the front about 26 - 28mm... as a starting point.
