1200 (& 620/1000/1100) Meet/ridout?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by AndyW, Jul 21, 2014.

  1. It seems a long time since there was last a group meet/rideout............any suggestions and/or volunteers to arrange something? (I'd volunteer but I'm not ideally placed here and it's quite a trek to get to any half decent routes)

Always joyed Ian's (@Kirky) Benson/Buckingham rideout (hint!)

  2. Why not start at say Warminster or Devizes, do a northern loop Cotswolds, Bicester, Oxford, Wantage, Hungerford and split..

  3. Warminster or Devizes start with a northern loop Cotswolds, Bicester, Oxford, Wantage, Hungerford or similar sounds good to me, but I don't think I have any spare time until September :-(

  4. :upyeah: Count me in I've enjoyed Kirky's runs too and it is a while since one happened, and if starting off in Devizes then even better!
Still quite a way away from Andy though, so maybe somewhere a bit closer to start from, what about Bristol and then head off around the coast, then cut back inland over to Cheddar, back towards where we start from. That way those who wanted to break off and head back towards Oxford, Reading, etc could do that then AW could peel off to W-S-M and the rest could do whatever. :)

  5. That would be too far for many I'd suspect unless you are very south west anyway. Be too far for me tbh, its a 1 1/2 blast on Mway or 2hrs on fast fast ride across country to Bristol.

  6. My thinking also....... that somewhere a bit more central (east/west) would be better for larger numbers attending........I have no problem heading to Devizes or a bit further afield to meet. This time of year the roads are very crowded round this way and the only decent rides you'll find are by heading down to the Devon or across to S/Wales back roads.

  7. Devises sounds like a reasonable starting point to me - about an hour to 90 mins away from me depending on the route and pace so perfectly doable.

  8. Dates then? 1st weekend of August probably only one I can make until Sept, be a shame to miss the summer

  9. Wow, I said it was quiet on the forum......but just 5 of us showing interest so far!? :Bucktooth:

Assuming I get my bike back (long story, waiting on a radiator :Arghh: ) Sat 02/08 or Sun 03/08 works for me (dependent on route Saturdays can be quieter on the roads)

    ..........almost forgot...
    .....you're volunteering to lead? ;-)

  10. ....ok, I've fired off a bunch of PM's to likely suspects to see if we can get some more interest :D

  11. am interested but bike also off road - awaiting replacement exhaust after cracks found grrr. then hols in aug...sept still good weather ?

  12. I suspect myself, Jefferson Darcy and at least 1 other (rides a KTM 1190R, will ask him to park it around back, ugly thing ;p) will be keen. Moving down to London full time this weekend, so after that (ignoring our potential Alps ride at the end of August), will be available.

  13. Great :D

    Bugs.....exhaust cracks?!.....have you posted details/pics anywhere?

.....I think we should aim for a meet/rideout for Aug and Sept :D (where's Kirky......itching to persuade him to do the Benson/Buckingham run again)

  14. I would be happy to join if you Mutley crew will put up with a 1995 monster? (Still looking for the fella that stle my Delilah) Also can we do something a tinge further north..... (see link) Devises, South Africa - Google Maps :)
Why not meet half the crowd near newbury, then we ride toward devizes where we meet the more westerly folk, who then ride back towards the east??? just a thought...
Can only do till the 18th of August thereafter its happy holidays in Sumabulla...

  15. What is the route and potential dates?

  16. The only suggestion so far is.....

...and date wise only the first weekend in Aug put forward so far.

  17. Might be up for that on the Sunday. Saturday I get back from the USA early, so not a good idea.

  18. Not bothered about leading long as we don't mind getting lost (always part of the adventure!) and everyone is responsible for their own riding ;)

  19. I'm sure if some come from the east as well as west, they will meet en route in different places.

Now booked in for the Silverstone GP TD on the multi..but the Sun looks ok. Assume pillions welcome, long as we can still keep a pace..

  20. All sounds good bradders.....pace....an informal drop off system works well, be aware if there's someone behind you and if at junctions they're not in sight, hang on for them - volunteer TEC (tail end charlie) always good.

    :upyeah:

Meeting place / start point.........somewhere where I can get a bacon butty please :D
