Hey! So we have a 695 monster with c 14.5k mi on the clock. Went to go for a ride on Sunday and found that the engine didn’t want to start. Also noticed amber engine warning light was on. Thought nothing of it and charged the battery as it had sat for 2-3 weeks in a coldish garage so assuming normal battery discharge although it seems a little quick given that the battery was 8 months since purchase. Hm. Whatever. The issue is the amber warning light is still on. When switching the ignition on the light comes on as normal, then goes off as normal. After 3 or so seconds, it comes back on and stays on. Engine starts and runs fine. No obvious issues. I’ve run it up until temp progresses from ‘low’ to 60 degrees c and it still does it’s thing. On my triumph, it’s common for an engine light after battery flat as it gives the Ecu strange readings and then after a precise number (I forget how many) of warm up cycles it just goes off. Does the duc have a similar system? I feel like the Ecu on this bike is fairly simple and probably doesn’t have anything like that but happily proven wrong. Does anyone have any useful guidance on how to deal with this?
I would say if there is no real fault the light will go out after three warm up cycles, same as your Triumph.
Thanks for the reply. Uncle anyone else has this problem, it did seem to clear itself but wasn’t linked to a number of warm ups per se. After warm up and cool down it still did it but a couple of days later I checked and the warning had gone away.
