So this weekend I have to ride to Dundee for some work for a few days and then back. Any advice and any solid tank bag options /tail packs I could put on the ol 1199. Also any sort of prep I should be doing to the bike. R.I.P my back.
I've ridden over 1400 miles over a weekend to Scotland on my 848 EC and Panigale a few times now. In fact the last time I did it was 3 weeks ago. Not a problem in the comfort stakes. I use Kriega US tailpacks to carry stuff now, but I have used a rucksack in the past.
If you think you're going to suffer any aches and pains pop 400mg of Ibuprofen at breakfast and lunch. A preemptive strike as it were. I do this for long motorway days where I'm not going to be moving around on the bike much. Maybe a placebo effect but for me it seems to work. Not that I ride a sports bike but I can only speculate that the issue is going to be potentially worse.
nothing to worry about. usual weekly commute millage for me and i dont expect it to brake down from one week to the next.. just usual checks. like any city, your only concern should be security.
I did 800 miles a few weeks back on my 899 with no problems, loved it and might go back later in the year have alook at motorcycle Scotland on the web or Facebook very helpfully people also we stopped at Ducati Glasgow for a brew and advice + two more bike shops next door. I used Kriega us20 and a us10 tail packs which brilliant maybe put the 10 on the tank next time tho Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
What's a 848 EC [emoji23] must be a lot easier with DM looking after you all and carrying your luggage around, there was no way I could of done a trip on my evo with luggage and done 800 miles that's one of the reasons I sold it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
No issues. Covered 6000 miles last month, including an 800 mile day to catch a ferry. Should be a piece of cake going to Dundee, although you're probably there by now. Kreiga tailpacks.
This is what i ended up going for, couldn't get a kriega one quick enough. LEave in 20 mins, lets hope its ok.
If comfort is a concern, you will be surprised just how much difference a decent pair of cycling gel shorts can make and far cheaper than any after market seat. Top tip, make sure you wear them under the leathers and not on top :
