I appreciate these are not quite the same but how different are they? I've been sold what i was advised was a 916 carbon front mudguard but it doesn't quite fit my 748. The bolt holes are slightly out of position and the mudguard sits about an inch of the top of the tyre if i just fit the top bolts ( cant get the top and bottom bolts to line up). My red original mudguard sits much closer to the tyre. Does this sound like an 848/1098 front mudguard does anyone know? But gutted really because the carbon is really nice and is allegedly a JHP item.
Mmm looking at photos in the Gallery section there is a noticeable difference between the two. Do the Ohlins forked 996/998's have a different fixing for the front mudguard?
I had the same problem years ago, bolts didn't line up and it sat so far from the tyre you could fly a plane through the gap... turns out it was for another bike... really! Use these guys, great, friendly and quality stuff. DUCATI1 - CARBON-TRADER - CTMOTO® I'm not linked with them, they don't pay me money, but I like simple, honest transactions on the interweb - these guys do it all!!
The mudguard fixing points are the same for 748/916/996/998 and 848/1098/1198 (749/999 had a different setup with an extra support behind the fork leg). I have 1198 forks on my 916 and did originally use a 916 mudguard which fitted perfectly. I now have a 1098 mudguard - because it 'wraps' around the fork legs more and offers better protection (better aerodynamics?) but it looks less 'period' to the 916 look. Incidentally my M900 mudguard also fits the same hole spacings. BTW in case you are interested, the 916 carbon mudguard which is a Ducati performance/MS productions piece is surplus to my requirements, it is a vented model and good condition but obviously used. PM if you want more info.
Well the seller has asked me to take some measurements and they are all a little out on my OEM guard. The carbon one is 2cm wider to start with and the mounting holes are 5mm further apart. No wonder it doesn't fit right.
