Anybody tried the mirrors with integrated indicator for their 748-998? some Taiwanese outfit selling them on fleabay, and may save me getting both a mirror and indicator after my recent 2mph brush with Tarmac. if anyone has any experiences with them, good/bad/indifferent, I would be interested to hear (have already ordered a solid state indicator relay suitable for LED flashers, as it was only a quid). cheers, pete
I just bought some of these after one of my mirror casings decided to break by itself. Not fitted yet but they appear to be as good quality as the OEM, cheaper and with the added bonus of indicators. Colour match (red) is fairly good too - not perfect but near enough, and Ducati mirrors don't always match perfectly as I've got a few lying around and they're not all the same colour. P.S. make an offer and you'll get them for less...
I've been looking at them too .............. Ducati 748 916 996 998 RED LIGHT Mirrors - Free S/H | eBay
How would you connect the indicators? Would you have to drill a hole in each side of the nosecone to run the wires in between where the mirror mounts and bolts?
Or maybe try to slightly slot to holes for the spigots coming through the fairing to accommodate the quite thin wires? Shouldn't need much, if the pics are anything to go by.
Thanks but I've not decided which way to go yet as I've not fitted the indicator mirrors and it's always good to keep spare mirrors especially as I have broken 4 in the past. Strangely I have more left than right mirrors as all the broken ones were right mirrors - the last 2 just cracked across the mounting base for no apparent reason, maybe something doesn't align properly in the mounting?
Not done it yet but really there needs to be some kind of connector to fit on the wires therefore making them bigger, or use a terminal block?
Usually, indicators are just a male and female bullet connector, so could be worth going for the smallest hole possible ( no pun intended, before somebody gives it the old Finbar Saunders), then fitting the bullet connectors after passing the wires through the fairing. but, then again, last indicators I did we're on a 1984 Suzuki gsx400e twin, so maybe the connectors have moved on some since then (about 1991, iirc).
But then how to remove the mirrors in the future? don't really want to be cutting wires every time. Need to see how big a hole can still be hidden under the mirror and how small a connector I can get.
Fair point about future proofing. But the usual bullet crimped connectors are less than 5mm diameter (iirc), and if you stagger the lengths you only feed one at a time, so big hole not needed. Plus, if you use the spigot holes, then they are big enough to take the connectors, just the slight slotting for the wires to sit once the spigot is engaged, if you can see what I mean.
It may not be bodgery after all.If I remember rightly ,there are some filters that fit inside the airbox. They clip on to the inside of where the ducts fit.And if I doubly remember rightly,Dukedesmo had a pair fitted. If this is the case DD,were they BMC?
