No. But it should be "F" - Tight. I use a holding tool (made from old steel plates) and put a stack of timbers under the tool handle so I can use both hands on a breaker bar to undo the nut. Take care not to slip with the bar or you may break off one of the six posts on the hub. Mate with windy gun is your best friend for this job.
I have only 3 posts due to minor miss hap when cleaning around the clutch with the engine running. (see my previous thread) Hence why I'm taking the hub off to replace with a new one!!
3/4" socket on a 3/4" breaker bar, or get yourself a good 12v impact wrench? I got me one of these: 1/2" 12V Impact Wrench Kit 350Nm RAC 038/2364 12 VOLT | eBay - appear to not have any more? Handy bit of kit though!
Got them in Tesco - £35 for 350Nm is good Buy RAC 12V Impact Wrench from our Car Tools range - Tesco.com
This is a bit back street /pikey, but does work and may be worth a go. Raise bike on a rear paddock stand, put in gear. Then carefully use a piece of timber to jam the rear wheel against the swing arm. Wrap in old towels for extra protection. Then have a go at the nut.... Works for rear wheel removal as well.
That's the quick way to a snapped crank! Always always ALWAYS use a locking tool at the right point. You can buy them for less than £30 which will do both centre hub and basket - much cheaper than replacing snapped parts!
Or even cheaper. This has worked fine for on numerous occasions Laser 5340 - Ducati Clutch Hub & Drum Tool - Machine Mart £6.82 inc.VAT
Thanks for all the help and info guys!! All relevant bits and pieces have been ordrered. Can someone confirm the nut size is 32mm?? 470four said a 3/4" socket, but it's bigger than that!!
