748 Engine Rebuild (big End Shells)

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Nick Bagnato, Nov 4, 2024.

  1. Hi all thanks in advance.
I have just started a winter project rebuilding my
2002 748E engine due to big end failure. Crank is currently at the engineers for a regrind but I'm unsure of what size to take it to. I have the Haynes manual and the technical data taken from a post on this site but they both give different data. Hopefully won't need oversize shells but bit worried about giving the engineer that wrong info. Does anyone have the correct toterences???

  2. IMO, you need to talk to someone like Craig at Moto Rapido to see what shells are still available from Ducati. Andy

  3. You could always have it metal sprayed back to a standard size

  4. or just buy a 2nd hand crank, must be loads for a standard 748
