I have done several searches both here and in other forums and so far been unable to find an idiots, step by step guide to exactly what is required. What I think I have gleaned, is that it just involves replacing one of the 2 inner steel plates with a friction plate. Is it really that simple?
basically, yes it is, crude as it sounds it usually works, and with no additional problems. When you say "inner" - the first plates inserted on building up the clutch can be replaced with a friction plate instead of a plain plate. I did it once on a Monster just out of interest but haven't bothered since as got increasingly deaf anyway and people coming up to you at the petrol station to tell you there's something wrong has mostly disappeared now, thanks to Covid.
My neighbour asked what was wrong with my 916 due to the rattly noise it was making - I told him it was a diesel, he seemed satisfied.
