Hi My 748r is running very rough, Back fires and cuts out…..had a check over from garage and we cannot connect to the ecu…is there a place I can send ecu to for a check over in U.K.? I’m based in midlands

Yes I reckon that could be moisture damage - hope not ! It's been chipped or tuned and they've not sealed up the ECU afterwards
What sort of rough? I’ve seen issues with the bikes miss firing when hot, and seen issues in here with issues when the circuits in the ECU get hot and chips start to lift in the board. I had an issue with my 748 back in the day and every time it went to motorapido they couldn’t figure it out, they changed the ECU and put mine to dry out and then afterwards I never had an issue so I assume issues with damp but the symptoms in my case were fuel pump recycling and cutting in and out
Miss fires from cold…..mechanic has done some checks… but because he cannot connect to ecu….thought that might be a good thing to check next
my mates 748r also had issues with this, a really good drying out of the front plug leads etc sorted it but you are right to check out the plugs
removing sparkplugs might shed some light, if you've used in the rain at anytime between now and when running ok then apart from moisture in ECU it could be water in vertical cylinder sparkplug recess. If only one plug fouling then will help a lot as to cause and worth changing that plug lead and plug regardless.
