748S Brake Calipers

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by MadG, Dec 13, 2012.

  1. Decided to sort out the suboptimal braking on the 748, think its the pads, lever solid but no braking power.

I may rebuild the calipers while I'm at it.

Can anyone advise the type of calipers fitted (Brembo, ...) and where I can get spares.

Anyone recommend soem pads too. Dont fancy Brembo @ £80+.

Haynes say they are a consumable?

    Thanks

  2. Haynes are usually quite good for reference.......but I definitely wouldn't eat them.....

  3. Bendix MF compound pads work really well. Been using them and fitting them in customers bikes for quite a while now with no problems. £50 will see you clear for both calipers.
Spares aren't available from Ducati or Brembo. Some manufacturers sell seal kits, but you'd need to match them to your calipers. Generally they're pretty robust. Clean and a regrease will see you right unless there's visible damage to the seals or pistons.

  4. Why are you suing them?

    AL

  5. If you need seals and or pistons try your local KTM dealer

  6. 'cause they've made my fingers dyslexic

  7. According to Performance Bikes mag this month, Wemoto now stock seal kits for some Brembo calipers but you need to ring them as they are not listed on their website yet.
