749/999 Frame difference through the years

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by funkatronic, Jan 23, 2014.

  1. Hiya

researching 749/999 frames for a possible project

    seen a few diff types
some with adjustable rearset points, some not, some have oval swingarm pivot others are round
also seen some with extra braces across the top

anyone know specific differences year to year/model to model?
are they all the same geometry materials and weights?

i know that theres lots of different adjustable stem/yoke/steerer configs, but are tall the head tubes the same

    thanks in advance

  2. Don't forget the frames pulled out of the R&D scrap bin.

  3. basic model no headstock adjustment..

multiple rearset agjustments on all except R models that only have 2 for homologation

frame braced on genuine rs frames or added at a later date….

  4. R frames apparently longer also

  5. ...and 749R

  6. The oval hole on anything other than an RS was for show only as the engine on all road bikes have a single hole through them . RS have an oval hole in engine cases to allow swingarm adjustment . The R frame has a couple of pieces that are bolted on ,as opposed to welded ,to allow for quicker access .
