Hi, Having trouble locating some "push on fix clips" used to secure the plastic fuel pump housing to the tank flange. Bike (2006 749s mono) had been stored for some time prior to me taking ownership resulting in the fuel strainer ahead of the pump being clogged up. Does anyone know a source of clips as attached pics. Thanks Regards, Gerry.
loosely known as a clip/push on washer afair, Ducati dealers will have them of course but also :- 2mm - 10mm Starlock push on fasteners locking washers speed locking clips | eBayh
Hi Chris - I have tried the Starlock fasteners from eBay - the ratio of ID to OD is too large so the clips will not fit into the recess in the pump housing. Not yet tried a Ducati dealer as the clips do not appear in the parts list I have for bike. I will give Snells a call later. Regards Gerry.
that's a pain Gerry, if the Starlock type grip ok but O.D. is fouling then I would be tempted to carefully grind some material off to fit if you can't get the correct ones.
Look like the clips that holds the sound dampners on inside of 999 fairing. They may be easier to get. When I used to make vertical blinds I used these on the end of the metal rods in the top runners. Long shot, but you could try your local blinds company.....
what dia are they Gerry? here are some (non-Starlock) for 6mm with slightly less material between o/d and i/d :- 10 Car Trim Panel clips Fasteners Trim buttons Flat Clips Round Push On HFC10 | eBay
Thanks, the small ones look as you say exactly the same size as the ones securing the sound dampers on inside of fairing. I managed to make use of a Starlock washer set from eBay, pump now re-assembled ready to go back into tank tomorrow evening.
Hi Chris, I found that by using a smaller size of clip I could force the clip over the pin, the smaller clip having a smaller O.D. - Fit over pin was a bit snug but no bad thing as all now secured nicely. On one of the larger clips I as you suggested ground away a bit of the clip so it did not interfere with the plastic pump housing. Pump all back together and ready to go. Regards, Gerry.
