  1. ok so oil service on the cards,2006 749, does it need 10w40 ? seen some videos where 10w50 or 15w 40 were used so i am slightly confused,is it worth fully synth or semi for a road bike.any good manufacturers recommended

  2. found some shell advanced 4T ultra 10w40 fully synth at a good price would this be ok?

  3. Yes, that was originally specified for the 749 but now Ducatis are specing 15w50 for their bikes.

  4. Too late I have order it ,damn
Is 15/50.for all there bikes ?

  5. Don't worry. This is the page from the 749/999 Owners Handbook.

  6. Oils have moved on since 2006, doesn’t mean the quality of the original specification is sh*t, just that oils are now developed with modern engines in mind. Look at the super duper Shell developed for the Panigale V4R, adds another 15 hp. Shell Advanced 4T 10w40 will be absolutely fine. Andy

  7. Phew , cheers guys. But going forward fully synth 15/40 from now on

  8. I’ve always used the shell ultra. Been to Ducati Manchester for service stuff and they gave me putoline tech 4+ 10w40, I questioned it but they said it was ok. It’s blue and now I’m worried . Says stuff about being good for wet clutch which mine obviously isn’t. You recon it’s ok?

  9. It'll be fine. Any good quality fully synthetic motorcycle oil be well up to the job.

  11. My 748 has Motul 300v in it. That’s bright green.

  12. My bikes have Motul 7100, its red.

  13. I changed the fork oil last week. Silkolene. Purple!

  14. Careful guys, you'll have the Rim-Tape brigade choosing their Oil based on it's colour in the Slight Glass.

  15. An oil recommended for a motorcycle with a wet clutch, has a blend of detergent additives to deal with the contamination from the clutch friction material as it wears. If you have a dry clutch, the requirement for blends of detergent additives is not quite so critical. As @Derek said, it’ll be fine, nice and clean but fine :D Andy

  16. Used Motul 300v in all mine for last 12 years now.

  17. oil change done ,quite easy really so saved a few quid

  18. now need learn how to remove the service spanner with the cable/adapter i got for the laptop

  19. I use Motul 5100 and it's err... oil coloured :D
