749 Tail tidy

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by JC749, Jan 30, 2013.

  1. Does anyone on here have any recommendations in regard to tail tidies?

I ended up making my own when I had a naughty pipe which was a bit dodgy as it kept on bending while out and about.

Ive used one of these which I thought was really nice but made of dairylea and broke as the brackets were not the correct angle of dangle. Brand New Ducati 749 999 Tail tidy number plate bracket | eBay

Anyone used an R&G one or any other that is up to the job?

If so, care to share a picture or two??

    Cheers :upyeah:

  2. I had a gorgeous 999R and I bought a Ducati Performance carbon fibre one for mine. Not cheap (about 100 notes I think) but looked mint and far better than anything else I've seen before or since. Always got positive comments and the old 'where did you get that'

  3. JC,
I have the ducati performance one forsale in classifieds. Its brand new and I bought it from JHP last week.

  4. Yeah I noticed that one mate but I was just wondering what else is out there as it is a bit of a forgotten aftermarket part and yet to see one on the road.

Im also thinking toward how to use my small numberplate and get shot of the horrible oem affair.

I would have had that off you but it's a bit of a bad time as ive just blown a load cash on my "other project bike" so im broker than the bank of england.

  5. Tail tidy

I purchased one from ProjectR £45 odd pound. Don't get one...two weeks later the paint came of it showing rusty metal underneath...not happy.

  6. Yes the first one is the one I got, it's flaking paint, not happy the 2nd choice will now be my other choice.
Not sounding mean I also brought clear indicators fom them (brought loads from them before). Once I got them tried to fit but would not fit unless you took the rubber seal out. I emailed them and got a poor response. Not happy as I sent a nice reply back about the poor fitting but got a poor response back again.

  7. Oh dear.

The paint is powdercoat and so if its flaked I would bet that its because its either snapped or about to. Have a close look as if one of those comes off at warp 10 "on a closed road officer" it wont be funny.

  8. I bought an Evotech 749 Tidy and it looks really good, well made and a nice finish. Gets rid of the stupid two rear light pods and is fitted without any specialist kit. Bought mine about 2 years ago, cost about £50 and makes the rear view look a million times better than the stock bike. Had to buy a rear no plate as the hole positions were different but I ordered a slightly smaller size (6*9) and had it made up with full size characters. Really pleased with the result.
