749 749r Oem Carbon Fairing Insulation

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by BIG M, Sep 17, 2017.

  1. I've just bought some 749R OEM carbon fairings which I'm going to fit to my 749S. There is no insulation on the insides of them just the mounting pegs. Do I really need the insulation? or would putting some adhesive heat resistant foil do the same job? Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Cheers.

  2. No need for any sort of insulation on the high parts. If you're running big pipes a piece of adhesive-backed aluminium foil will be enough to protect the carbon where the exhaust is very close.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. Agreed not required.
iirc it was fitted to reduce or dampen the noise.

  4. Thanks for the replies. I only have the termi End can fitted with standard headers so heat shouldn't be a problem. It'd take a more than a bit of padding to dampen the engine noise! Not that you'd want to anyway. :yum
