Evening folks, Firstly, my apologies if this has already been discussed at length and I’ve missed it, however I’m after some advice on brakes. I have found the brakes on the 749S a little bit lacking. Now admittedly my other bike (was) a 21 plate S1000RR but I’m looking for the dukes brakes to perform like that just to have a bit more bite and stopping power. Is this just something I need to get used to or worth trying some different pads? Different callipers even? Appreciate it. Cammy
I assume you have the 4 pad axial Brembos rather than radial ones on that bike? If so, I had those calipers on my old 916. I upgraded to HPK discs and RCS master cylinder and Performance Friction 95 compound pads. This set up was certainly good enough for my needs.
If it’s instantaneous throw you over the handlebars bite you’re after then put some EBC HH pads in. It’s also worth getting some clean wire wool or clean scotchbrite and brake cleaner and giving the disks a good clean as well before first using the new pads. If the bike’s new to you you want to make sure there are no contaminants on the braking surface from grease, ACF50, detailing products etc
