749s Clutch Kit ... Best Buy ?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by DeanF, Mar 1, 2014.

  1. Evening all...

New to the Forum so a big Hello first ...... & then a Question.

Just recently purchased an 05 Plate 749s which has done 17k Miles but has a very Low clutch lever .. Clutch only releases on the last bit of lever travel .... Have browsed briefly on the Net but thought i would ask the people in the know for their recomendations ... on a plate kit & if a new pressure plate & springs is the best route to take ...

    Thanks

  2. Sounds like it just needs bleeding tbh. Try bleeding the master cylinder first. Take the cover off and you'll find a small bleed screw in there. Undo it, pull lever and lock off. Probably only take 3 or 4 goes.

  3. As Nelly says , and get yourself a new bottle of dot 4 and bleed through to completely change out your old fluid.
Old fluid absorbs moisture and loses efficiency .

  4. Cheers Guys, Was just looking through the 749s section & read some references to that, So will give it a whirl ....

  6. Dean, glad to hear it :) Not sure who looks after your bike but if you're in Staffs you cant be a million miles from Cornerspeed.co.uk they are a great outfit and Nelly who assisted with the advice is the owner, one of the best Ducati mechs out there and often in here sharing his knowledge as you've seen.

  7. I think i used Cornerspeed with my last Duke for the belts & tensioners..... It was a few bikes back mind

    Cheers
