A mate is wondering what his factory mono S in glossy black with around 10k miles might be worth given 749 prices are all over the shop. And should it be auctioned at classic cars or collecting cars or just bike trader or ebay?
If it were me and I was in no hurry to sell, I wouldn’t be considering any auction house, let alone the two you mention. Costs you nothing to advertise on here as a subscriber and whilst notoriously tight fisted with deep pockets, the people on this forum are your target market. As to value, how long is a piece of string ? The more usual red 749S, seems to be averaging somewhere in the low to mid £6000 range so your bike would carry a small premium above that. It’s always difficult pitching the price to sell sensibly without under valuing and getting ripped off or overvaluing and getting no responses. IMO, decide on the absolute minimum you would take regardless of the market value and add a reasonable figure for haggle room, something like 10 to 15%. Andy
if that what our friendship is worth mate then im in tatters.... and i thought we had something special??
Ok. Ok. Two bags of cheesy snacks. Seriously though. Lovely bike. Andy has given good advice for sure but personally I wouldn’t rule out eBay.
As above one of only fifty so that makes it very special from the crowd, i nearly purchased one a few years ago for £7.5k with two owners and showroom mileage ishhhhhh.
Here's the 999 version for a price comparsion. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15606587...-8cba-5a09ac647ec7|iid:1|vlpname:vlp_homepage
There is a mention of a "certificate" which whilst a piece of paper won't materially change a bike, it will affect is collectability & therefore value. That seller accepts "Part Exchange your WATCH, SILVER, GOLD OR JEWELLERY ???". Whats wrong with him, has he never heard of Wotsits?
