  1. What do you guys recomend tyre wise ?, i mainly cruise about, fairly quick but not daft, road use only
    rob:eek:

  2. Round black ones at the correct manufacturers pressure and size for the bike you have, they're all the same unless you are a racing god. Get the best deal you can.

  3. Used to be able to get DD scrubs
    It's what I used :)

  4. You still can for around £40-£50 a pair plus pp. Dunlop Qualifier II's

  5. Sounds good. Got any ready to go? Picks with tread depths?

  6. Thanks. I was thinking more about tyres that are actually for sale :p

  7. Oh lol drrrr

  8. Depending on your budget, I can't recommend Dunlop sportsmarts enough. A good all rounder which give good miles. Got 5k out of my last set.

  9. And those are the pirreli's that we chose not to use last season I think. Not the greatest of DD tyre. The Dunlop QII's are great. I have a decent rear in the garage, I will take a pick tomorrow.

  10. They did pretty well at the time, we stopped using them because they went out of production and were getting hard to get hold of. The Dunlops are better though, and are my current tyre of choice for the road.

  11. If anyone has a decent rear scrub, I'm after one too! Thanks

  12. I'm using Bridgestone BT020 tyres front and rear, and as my 900 has the narrower 750 rear wheel with the 160 width it goes round corners really well with very good grip and feedback so I'd highly recommend these for the 750

  13. I have two sets of Pirelli scrubs.......not a particularly nice compound (hard, I think) compared with the old Dunlop Sportmax I took off, but considering the Sportmax were well worn, they are probably as good as each other....

However, on a 600 / 750SS, as far as I am concerned it doesn't really matter which tyre is used as long as it is legal, sticks to the road a bit and doesn't fall apart........

On the track or a larger capacity bike, I would think very differently............and found that Bridgestones on my 1990 ZZR1100 were really good.......apparently they aren't so good these days.

  14. Just for your info, I had a new-ish 180 x 55* on the rear of my 750SS (narrower wheel) and it was fine.......I cut a template and checked the cross section profile when fitted and it was exactly the same as the worn standard size tyre......with a little more tread before the sidewalls.......

No fouling etc and it handled really well....kept it on for 1000 miles or so before I removed it for wheel overhaul.......

*paulk653 now has the tyre on his 750SS without problems....he can confirm whether it was 55 or 50 profile.
